SOURCES

We've gathered up 3 sources from which to pull background knowledge on our subject of pollen to anther ratios, among them we'll learn about pollen grain morphology.

Our first source on pollen grain morphology covers the three stages of pollen evolution: pollen tube growth, decrease in pollen grain life expectancy, and an increase in apertures.

Secondly we researched the general sexual reproductions of pollen to see if there was a correlation between anthers and/or pollen and the nature by which plants reproduce.

And finally we looked at a comparative analysis between many different plant parts to each other, paying close attention to the effect of the plants size on the stamen (found on pg 338).

We also gathered background information on our flower species: alstroemeria, oriental hybrid lily , and christmas peppers.

We also used Uniprot.org to create our phylogenetic tree and gather info on the types of pollen surfaces and type of apertures.
